Psalm 5:11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice:let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them:let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
People are looking for something today, but they do not know what. Believers and non-believers want joy, they want happiness, but they do not understand or refuse to understand how to get it. Joy does not come from us or from TV or from movies or from sports or from entertainers or from good deeds. Where does joy come from?
Col 1:16-17 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones,or dominions,or principalities,or powers:all things were created by him,and for him: (17) And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Who is the HIM in this passage? Jesus Christ. In the Webster’s Dictionary, joy is first listed as a noun, therefore joy qualifies as a thing. Jesus Christ created joy, therefore we should be joyful in Him and that can only happen when we are obedient and repentant. We get excited to see a new movie or watch a sporting event or read a new book or be with someone, but you excited about being with God? You watch a movie that really moves you, when was the last time the Word of God moved you? You may get excited about going somewhere, but when was the last time you got excited about praying to God?
Psalm 5:11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice:let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them:let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
Joy comes when we are obedient to Him. Joy comes when we set aside our desires and follow His desires. The joy of a movie fades. The joy of a sporting event fades. The joy of TV fades. Joy of the Lord does not fade away. When we are obedient to Him,the task before us may not be easier, but we will take more joy in doing it.
